Description:

Perennial. It may have several reclining stems from a woody base, or sometimes no apparent stem at all, the leaves and stems emerging directly from the base These are the maturing seed capsules, abuut 2" long, with 4 broad wings.

Habitat:

Dry prairie of section 71 of the LBJ National Grasslands. It was growing on disturbed rocky ground with fossil shells scattered over the surface.
