Glorious leaf beetle

Paropsisterna gloriosa

Description:

A tiny leaf beetle usually with very bright colors of red and yellow, outlined in black. There is no more spectacular colored leaf beetle but this is a pale form. . It sometimes occurs in pale form as this specimen is but I have no way to explain why this might be.

Habitat:

On red box (Eucalyptus) in a nature reserve.

Notes:

I have seen pale forms in all allied species . I saw a bright annularis today. There are very few chrysomelinae about in general which is odd since springtime was so very prolific.
