Steppe Eagle

Aquila nipalensis

Description:

The steppe eagle (Aquila nipalensis) is a bird of prey about 2+ feet in length with a wingspan 5–7 feet and weighing 2-4 kg.

Habitat:

It breeds from Romania through the Russian and Central Asian steppes to Mongolia. The European and Central Asian birds winter in Africa, and the eastern ones come to India during this time.

Notes:

I saw this bird in the heart of the southern Indian city of Bengaluru.
