Colaptes auratus
It was slightly snowing on this morning and I was quite surprised to have three flickers visiting my yard. While I see other woodpeckers often, the flickers have only come rarely to feed on the persimmon tree. This trio was foraging in the front yard and then one circled around to my back yard to hang out for a while. It was a real treat.

Thanks, Desmond! Nice that you get to see these beautiful woodpeckers every year, James.
We see a few of these in our neighborhood every winter, migrating through.
Great Series Maria!
Thanks, James. It did look like it was posing - and it was a beautiful subject for a portrait!
Beautiful shot Maria, did you ask it to pose like that? LOL. Excellent!
