Resting under the leaves of a Victorian Christmas bush this two-toned red velvet mite was about 12mm long including legs.
In a local nature reserve - Glenfern Valley reserve.
These creatures have an unusual life with two nymphal stages. In the first one they have six legs and are phoretic so often seen attached to other arthropods.
