Mussurana

Clelia clelia

Description:

Also known locally as "zopilota" - one of the few natural enemies of the fer-de-lance (a.k.a. terciopelo, Bothrops asper). Máximum lenght 2,60 metres

Habitat:

Both Atlantic and Pacific slopes, at altitudes below 1500 metres

Notes:

Spotted this snake on a jungle hike, just 2 metres off the trail. Having hiked these trails and beyond numerous times, with ever so many encounters with terciopelos, this was the first time I actually spotted the terciopelo/fer-de-lance´s natural enemy.
