Clathrus ruber
A member of the stinkhorn family, C. ruber is the type species of the genus Clathrus. It emerges from a formation resembling an egg which has a white leathery outer membrane. The red cage encloses olive green slime that bears the spores. The fungus has a foul smell.
Observed in Hacıosman korusu, a park/small forest of mixed species located to the north of the European side of Istanbul. Approx. elevation 100m.
