Eastern White Cedar

Thuja occidentalis

Description:

This evergreen tree was just over one storey tall. Not sure how old it is. Lots of clusters of young cones, each about an inch long.

Notes:

I'm still fairly new to Maryland and learning about nature here. Not sure if this is a native tree.

I think you are right, it is an Eastern White Cedar. I had trouble uploading a closer image. Thank you MrsPbio!

Without seeing a closer-up photo of the "leaves"/"needles", I am hesitant to say with 100% certaintly, but I THINK this is a white cedar. Red cedars have poky short spiny needles, while white cedars are flattened and not poky.
