American Black bear

Ursus americanus

Description:

I conducted my thesis research for my Master's degree in Big Bend National Park, studying the seasonal variation and time management of Black bears in the park. I had the opportunity to watch these bears for a year, and it was a great learning experience! Typically, they were found to be eating acorns, opuntia fruits (prickly pear tunas), madrone berries, persimmons, and juniper berries.

Habitat:

oak forest
