Description:

Dark plumage with some rufous. In flight long thin neck is tightly coiled. almost kinked, and dark flight feathers contrast against rufous wing lining. Call harsh croak. L 36"; Wingspan 55"

Habitat:

Fairly common in all types of wetlands from coastal marshesto ricefield!. Nests in colonies in isolated patches of trees.
