A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Poecile carolinensis
This small bird has a distinctive round body shape. It has a short neck, large head, and a fairly long and narrow tail. The black cap and bib are separated by white cheeks. The back, wings, and tail are soft gray.
This one was getting insects from the bark of a tree. In winter their diet is half plant and half insects. The rest of the year it is mostly insects and spiders.
