Physonota alutacea
Larva of Wild Olive tortoise leaf beetle
These ( 4 individuals) were spotted on the same plant as this spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/112... - not just the same species of plant, the exact same plant. I am wondering if these could be the larvae of the beetle photographed several weeks ago.
Thanks martini for the ID - looks like a good match to me. "Trilobite" is exactly what my husband said when I showed this to him ;-) I'm happy to have confirmed that this is the larva of the adult beetle I photographed previously - I love it when I can put the pieces together like that. Now I'd like to know what the plant is ...
It is so interesting that beetles that have the same general shape (like tortoise beetles) have so different larvae!
Looks like trilobite. Thanks for this special spotting and the link to its adult beetle.
