Chlorophyllum brunneum

Description:

Concentric brown scales with cuticle in tact. Cap slightly inrolled until fully mature. Gills white, not attached. Veil on younger specimens, breaks into moveable annulus on mature specimens. Thick stipe with abruptly bulbous base. Spore print white.

Habitat:

Growing in grass and leaf litter under Oak trees.

Notes:

Toxic Chlorophyllum molybdites is similar, but can be seperated by it's green spore print. Never eat wild mushrooms without expert identification.
