Green-throated Carib

Eulampis holosericeus

Description:

A hummingbird found throughout the Caribbean. Its head and throat are green, with brilliant blue on chest and wings; with touches of orange on the back and wings.

Habitat:

It is found in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, north-east Puerto Rico, Saba, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Eustatius, the British Virgin Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Notes:

I spotted it sitting on a bare branch. It was quite an interesting experience because it let me go very close without leaving. Usually hummingbirds don't stay in one place long, but this little guy just stayed. It was a wonderful experience.
