Habitat:

Native to sandy coastal areas of Mexico. Well drained soil in tropical and sub-tropical areas throughout the world. Used as decorative garden or houseplant.

Notes:

This is a female plant as evident by the large seed bearing structure. Found growing by a fence between a street and a public park. Seeds and all parts of the plant seem to be toxic if ingested according to several websites.
