Osprey & Great Blue Heron

Pandion haliaetus & Ardea herodias

Notes:

While photographing a Great Blue Heron at a small freshwater pond, an Osprey circled in and began threatening the Heron. The Osprey made three passes at the Heron, both birds screaming and squawking, and finally the Heron was driven off. The Osprey immediately settled on the Heron's former perch, which appears to be the only prime hunting perch on this small pond. The Osprey stayed for about 20 minutes, made one unsuccessful try at a fish, and then flew off. The Heron did not return while I was there.
