Ivory Gull

Pagophila eburnea

Description:

This is an extremely rare sighting for this location. The Ivory Gull, bleach white with black feet and dark bill, is a normal resident of the high arctic, living on the pack ice. The day before the sighting, we had an extreme wind storm, reported winds up to 70 mph, which must have been blown off course. Birders traveled hundreds of miles to see this bird, luckily for me, It landed in Flint, MI which is only a 30 minute drive for me.

Habitat:

River
