Peregrine Falcon

Falco peregrinus

Description:

Distinctive black helmet that extends well below the eye in this probably anatum race falcon. Warm buffy breast with dark barring. Blue grey back and wings. Yellow cere with dark tip on beak.

Habitat:

photo 4 shows the habitat this Peregrine was found in. He seemed settled for the night and was not moving to give me a better photo either! There were flocks of ducks on either side of the dike where this tree is growing so he had a great chance of a good breakfast the next morning. Ducks and pigeons seem to be the main diet of peregrines in the winter in our area.
