Deep Green Hairstreak (male)

Theritas mavors

Description:

Hairstreak of about 4cm wingspan; shiny green wings with dark outline and three distinct black stripes on both wing pairs; upper side of abdomen is turquoise. I didn't get to see it with open wings, so I don't know what they look like.

Habitat:

Scrubby area of the southern Colombian Andes at about 1600m above sea level. I found this specimen on the Alto de Aguacate within the archeological park of "Tierradentro".
