Description:

The breeding male of this small bird is bright yellow with a black cap and wings, which have white bars. They also have orange bills. The males in winter and females tend towards an olive green/yellow (shown).

Habitat:

These small sparrow-sized birds breed in grasslands but are common at feeders at the edge of forests and in suburban areas.
