A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
This is a large spider that i found on its web in my backyard. This is a type of Zipper Spider (@black-yellow garden spider, corn spider, or writing spider). It body is yellow, with some black, white, and brown spots. When it sits in the centre of the web, the position of its legs is in an X shape. The size of this spider is about 20 mm in length (excluding its legs).
- Around the garden and bushes.
- This is a spider from the family Araneidae, and from the genus Argiope. The very easily visible pattern of banded silk made by Argiope soider is pure white, and some species make an "X" form, or a zig-zag type of web (often with a hollow centre). I hope, someone can help me to ID the species of this spider.
