Perigonia lusca

Description:

Greenish and brown Sphinx Moth with orange and black underwings, about 4.5 cm long. This is probably the male. There is absolutely nothing "half blind" about this sphinx!!! It is also called the Coffee Sphinx and the larvae can be serious pests of coffee plants. Chiapas grows a great deal of coffee. Family Sphingidae.

Habitat:

Came to the lights of a shopping center, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

See a picture of the larva from the reference.

Thank you Jellis and bayucca. I am surprised this one has even made it out to the Galapagos Islands! Strong flyer!

Sphingidae, Macroglossinae, Dilophonotini, Perigonia lusca. For me the only possible candidate, after checking all Dilophonotini. Please, verify nevertheless. The second yellow patch might be absent or faint as it seems, that's the only question mark I was a little bit confused during the checking.
