Flower feeding horse fly (♂)

Scaptia auriflua

Description:

About 18mm body length. Several feeding on ti-tree flowers.

Habitat:

In local nature reserve.

Notes:

Tabanidae->Scaptia->S auriflua Doesn't look quite right for S auriflua to me. Also note abdomen differences between these two specimens. Variability seems acceptable.
