Accipiter cooperii
The cooper's hawk has a dark back with rusty-barred chest. It is similar to the sharp-shinned hawk but larger, especially the female. The cooper's hawk has a rounded tail and tipped with broad white terminal band. I identified this hawk as a cooper's hawk because of the rounded tail.
I spotted this cooper's hawk in the backyard in early spring. It sat in the tree for the longest time and did not seem to mind me taking it's picture.
