Syvilagus aquaticus
These rabbits can be red-brown or gray-brown with large hind feet long ears and a short tail with white underside fur. During the winter the cottontail is more gray than brown. They can range from 14-18 inches long in adulthood and can weight 1.8-4.4 pounds in adulthood
Cottontails are very common in open spaces. Urban areas these bunnies brush piles or tall grasses. They stay away from wet areas like swamps and marshes in addition to short grass and dense woods. These bunnies are almost always in a close proximity to one another and like to stay in small areas approximately 10 acres or less. These rabbits also occupy areas around farms including fields, pastures and open woods.
This picture was taken during the summer which is why the grass is so green
