Regulus satrapa
smaller than a chickadee, black fine beak with moustachial stripe, black eyes and golden yellow medial head stripe surrounded by black stripe. white supercilium and throat, buffy breast, olive yellow back and wings with white wing bars. Cute!!
Usually coniferous forest but every time I walk this dike I see this winter flock here in the mixed forest with blackberry scrub understorey. And the birds are down at eye level which is very unusual for this species which are usually so high up in the treetops.
You can't imagine how many photos I took to get this clear one of this bird which never stays still! It has just extracted a tiny insect or seed from the bark of the tree.
