It was inside and I took it out - it has stayed there for several days now. I"ve never seen one before, and I have no doubt I will suddenly start seeing them, as that seems to be the way things work

There doesn't appear to be a common name for this species.

You helped me identify my moth that looks almost exactly like yours except mine only occurs in the Eastern USA. :) I'll be posting mine soon.

I have a moth book but it is only Eastern USA. I have some friends that are really into moth-ing. I will ask them.
