Allamanda (Yellow Bell, Golden Trumpet or Buttercup Flower)

Cathartica

Description:

It is a tropical woody, evergreen shrub and can reach a height of 2 metres or more. The leaves are lancelike, pointed, and may either be opposite or in whorls of three or four. The yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers are 5-7.5 centimetres in diameter. The sap can lead to rashes, itch, and blisters if exposed to the skin.

Habitat:

In the wild, Allamanda grow along riverbanks and other open, sunny areas with adequate rainfall and perpetually moist substrate. The plants do not grow well in shade, salty or alkaline soils and they are highly sensitive to cold.
