Hymenocallis liriosme
'Texan spider lily' (Hymenocallis liriosme), has a distinct yellow center. Three foot stems with 2-3 blossoms. Three white petals and three white sepals form the tubelike blooms which last 3-4 days.
Bogs, ditches, stream banks. Like moist but well drained. Requires shade to part sun.
This is a spring bloomer and similar to the Giant Tropical Spider Lily, Hymenocallis caribaea. We have both in our bog garden which results in continuous blooms from spring to early fall. Hymenocallis caribaea spreads easily with pups that appear about 6-12 inches from the parent. Transplant pups in spring to late summer.
