Alligator

Alligator mississippiensis

Description:

Adult Florida alligators are usually 6 to 12 feet long. Hard to know this ones length. Streamlined body to assist swimming - Large teeth to cut and tear meat - Webbed fingers and toes for swimming - Nostrils on the top of the head to allow breathing while most of the body is submerged (and eyes as well) - Cold blooded (reptile) lays eggs with leathery shell.

Habitat:

Florida swamp area

Notes:

Alligators are only native to the United States and China. American alligators live in freshwater environments, such as ponds, marshes, wetlands, rivers, lakes, and swamps, as well as in brackish environments
