Description:

Length 43 Wingspan 63 cm Weight 700 g "Breeding male distinctive, with black back and white 'spur' on side."

Habitat:

"Usually in small flocks on freshwater ponds. Dives in shallow water for plants and seeds. Nests in marshes, especially those with wooded edges."
