Description:

A medium-sized heron with blue-grey plumage. The neck is purplish, the legs are greenish and the tip of the bill is black. Sexes are similar. Adults forage alone.

Habitat:

Spotted foraging in intertidal marsh/mudflats at the South Padre Island Birding And Nature Center.
