Meadow Spittlebug

Description:

The Meadow Spittlebug is a common hopper that comes in a very wide variety of colors and patterns. These two were hanging out on the same Teasel plant. The nymphs of this species live in bubble nests that look like spittle (hence the common name).

Habitat:

Suburban culvert surrounded by a variety of wildflowers.
