Falco sparverius
Found on a back road behind my house
I seen it on a back road behind my house, and when I went up to it, it didn't fly away it just ran a little bit. I zoomed in and took a picture from I think around 20 feet away. Then from a picture of it with its head turned I cropped out the body and left just its head. Then after a few minutes it flew away
This is a rather remarkable portrait of this small kestrel, even with a great zoom and cropping this is very difficult to do. Could you would you please tell us more about how you managed to pull off such a great photograph of a small and very shy kestrel?
Nice closeup! I would love you to add it to the mission Raptors of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8627...
Very nice portrait Ty, welcome to Project Noah!
Can you add some information on this spotting in the notes - where did you see this falcon for instance. If you saw in in a wildlife or raptor center you should state that, & if it a rehab bird we have a mission that you might like to add it to for Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation.
