Little Striped Wolf Spider with babies

Venatrix furcillata

Description:

A grey female wolf spider with spiderlings on her back.

Habitat:

Spotted scuttling across pavement in a suburban area, to shelter in the cracks on the wall.. Distribution: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b... Seen in gardens and built-up areas all along the east coast of Australia

Notes:

Lucky to have spotted this one - a little off-putting, though ! These are active hunters from Family: Lycosidae I could not see the stripes on the cephalothorax - too many spiderlings !!

Thank you gatorfellows - Never thought I'd get to see this one. Yes, very dedicated indeed- when she could not find any holes in the wall, she stuck her head into a crack leaving her abdomen with all the babies exposed to the world !!
