The underside is mainly gray-brown with small eyespots on the hindwings and no eyespot on the forewing.
Wildlife habitat garden with many native plants including Hackberry trees, Celtis.
These butterflies are sap, rotting fruit, dung and carrion feeders. They can be lured for a closer look with a plate of rotting banana or other soft fruit.

Thank you. These and the Hackberry Emperors like to ride around on my shoulders while I look for insects to photograph. I know they are only after the minerals in my sweat, but it is fun. They seem to really like it when I wear blue.
