Botta's Pocket Gopher

Description:

Another family spotted this pocket gopher poking his head out of his borough and pointed him out to me. We were captivated by how cute the gopher was, and how much damage they can do to the landscape. We watched this gopher pull down a large portion of the near by plants. In the second photo, you can see the pocket gopher's huge teeth.

Thanks for posting that picture. It was fascinating watching that gopher, especially when he took that chunk of plant. Can see why people don't want them around!

Yes! I had no idea how many whiskers a pocket gopher had. I sat on the sidewalk for awhile so I could observe this gopher for a while. Very interesting.
