Description:

Fruitbodies are 2 to 7 cm tall, flattened & tough, with antler-like branching. Branches are black with white tips.

Habitat:

Amongst moss on dead wood logs in shaded woods of a high river bank.

Our fungi are having a hard time with this dry year ... finding these was a surprise ... I agree with you that they are young.

never seen them in this way before! they are a very common species around Stockport in the UK, I guess these must be young fruit bodies because they're usually taller and more spindly
