You are probably right Keith it could well be a female Sachem - they are so variable in color & pattern. I will do some more research.

I was thinking Sachem, but that may because most of the skippers in my yard right now are Sachems and a lot of the skippers I have trouble ID'ing turn out to be Sachems. Much easier to tell from below. :)
