Description:

For most of the year, a clump of apparently dead sticks, 8-10 feet tall. In the wet season, many shiny green leaves, 1-2 inches long, sprout all along the stems. Red flowers appear on the tips of the stems.

Habitat:

Desert scrubland.

Notes:

Oak Creek drainage, near Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona.
