Field poppy/Poljski mak

Papaver rhoeas

Description:

Red 5-leaved flower with rhasp stem and black petal.

Habitat:

I usually see them near manure piles or dumps ...

Notes:

I love this flower plus it's seeds are useful. In Slovenia they make poppy buns to eat, and also poppy potica, which is a very deliceous pastry. They last for few days, but reproduce really quickly, so the next day you'll see a new flower :) If you use it for medical purposes, you have to be very careful-best if somebody who knows about it, like a doctor, helps you. It is said to help with stomach spasms, intestines, bile and urinary tract.
