I agree with bayucca. Antenna are the key to first decision about moth or butterfly. Skippers generally have clubs that curve backward like a hook. Do not let that little feature confuse you.

Another important difference between moths and skippers or other butterflies are the antennae. Butterflies have clubs, moths featherlike or straight antennae.

Hi Michelle! Welcome to Project Noah. This is a moth, not a skipper butterfly. If you look at skippers you always see the head and eyes, in this kind of moth and this view you actually can't see the real head and eyes.
