Woolly bear caterpillar

Pyrrharctia isabella

Description:

This is another update to the eggs I found on the milkweed leaf. I took one of the baby caterpillars so we could observe its growth. I have to keep its plant new and alive, but now we can see what type of caterpillar it is. Here are the other postings. http://www.projectnoah.org/spotting/1146... http://www.projectnoah.org/spotting/1137... http://www.projectnoah.org/spotting/1146...

No problem!

Jgorneau, nice job finding the scientific name. I thought I had found the right one myself. Thanks for the correction.

I almost accidentally squished one of those playing basketball the other day! He startled me when I first saw him, (because he was BIG, fluffy and moving) but then I escorted him over to the woods. I'm saving the world. One caterpillar at a time! :D
