American Crow

Corvus brachyrhynchos

Description:

Medium sized member of the corvid family (bluejays, ravens, etc), cried are very intelligent birds with glossy black plumage. Crows often travel in groups and are able to alert and call in other nearby crows with their hoarse caw, they are also surprisingly good at remembering faces.

Habitat:

Found in almost any location all over North America.

Notes:

Mearl is an imprinted crow raised illegally from a hatchling. He is incredibly smart and we need to keep him sufficiently entertained with enrichment that ranges from a variety of food and intriguing toys. Mearl is a complete sweetheart, often mimicking the sound of a human interpretation of a crow caw, and occasionally trying to speak to us by saying, "oh it's you!", or something similar sounding. He also enjoys being scratched, it is very similar to the way crows groom one another in the wild.
