Pleasing Fungus Beetle

Gibbifer californicus

Description:

As the name implies, these beetles are more often than not found munching on many sorts of fungi. Although the mushroom season has not begun yet, this guy is probably searching for some plants as a substitute.

Notes:

To prove how fungi-mad this beetle is, check out my other spotting when the mushroom season was at its peak: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/723...
