A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tillandsia sp.
This is an air plant (epiphyte) that does not require soil to grow. It absorbs it nutrients through its leaves. Its roots are used as an anchor to the host it is attached to.
Observed in a County nature preserve attached to a tree just off the boardwalk. The area has mostly heavy canopy cover w/ only partial sunlight in this area.
Note also lichen and brown shelf fungi next to this epiphyte.
