Tearful Underwing

Catocala lacrymosa

Notes:

My husband sent these photos to me the other day and took my breath away, as he is apt to do. It looks as though the moth is on a hardwood floor in a corner of a room, which would mean it would have to be HUGE! However, it is actually on a window sill. It is still quite large, though. According to my husband, who spotted this beauty, it is about the size of my palm, which is small for a hand, but big for a moth.
