St John's wort

Description:

I have a small shrub about 3-4 feet tall in my backyard, it blooms in May with yellow puffball flowers about an inch in diameter. It has no thorns and the bark is smooth, gray and reddish brown. I've never seen another like it around here and haven't found anyone who can ID it for me.

I think it is in the Asteraceae (formerly known as the Compositae family)
