I would guess that this is a caterpillar for a tussock moth. Here in the US, genus Dasychira and genus Orgyia have very similar features to your find. Here are some Australian finds to look at to see if they're close to yours:1. http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au...2. http://www.flickr.com/photos/21175716@N0...3. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32211434@N0...If I had to suggest where yours belongs, it's in family Lymantriidae genus Dasychira
