Black-veined White

Aporia crataegi

Description:

The Black-veined White is a butterfly of the Pieridae family. Larger than other whites (56–68 millimetres, 2.2–2.7 in) and quite distinctive, with all its veins lined black and lacking any other marks.

Habitat:

Spotted in a prealpine meadow (1300 m ASL). The flower is Phyteuma spicatum, the spiked rampion. Distribution: most of Europe, North Africa, temperate Asia, Korea and Japan.
